The Prime Minister reached
BBC NEWS24 DESK:Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reached Riyadh this evening on a four-day tour as part of a bilateral visit to Saudi King and two Holy Mosques Khadem Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.
A VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines landed at King Khaled International Airport at 6:50 pm with the Prime Minister and members of her entourage.
Bangladeshi ambassador to Saudi Arabia Golam Mosh, Governor of Riyadh and Embassy officials welcomed the Prime Minister at the airport.
The Prime Minister will hold a meeting with the leaders of the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) and Riyadh Chamber of Commerce in his suite tomorrow. On the same day, Sheikh Hasina will meet King Salman in the Saudi palace and join the luncheon.
The Prime Minister will hold a meeting with Saudi Prince and Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz. Later, he will inaugurate the Bangladesh Chancery Building in the diplomatic areas of the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
The Prime Minister will leave Riyadh for the holy city Medina in the evening tomorrow and will visit Rauja of Prophet Muhammad (s) in the mosque.
The Prime Minister will reach Jeddah on Thursday and set up the foundation stone of the Chancery Building of Bangladesh Consulate General in Bangladesh. After the Esha prayers, Sheikh Hasina will observe the holy Umrah in Mecca. He will be leaving for the country on Friday morning.
Foreign Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali told a press conference on Monday at the Foreign Ministry that two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) will be signed during the visit of the Prime Minister to Saudi Arabia. These are: Memorandum of Understanding regarding Defense Cooperation (MoU) and Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in ICT sector (MOU).
He said that the meeting between the Prime Minister and the Saudi King will be discussed in the meeting between Burmese insurgent Rohingya nationals who have been sheltered in Bangladesh.
In addition to defense cooperation and Rohingya community issues, there will be discussion on welfare of workers, bilateral trade, development cooperation and greater unity and prosperity of the Muslim Ummah.
The Foreign Minister hoped that this visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will strengthen relations between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia in the coming days.
